CVS Caremark Downtown 5K Celebrates $63,500 Raised For Area Charities

CVS Hosted Annual Awards Dinner At Woonsocket HQ.

  CVS honored about 150 people, including high school track coaches and runners, for volunteer work and athleticism during the CVS Caremark 5K Sept. 16 at the company's Woonsocket headquarters Thursday night. CVS Caremark 5K: Woonsocket Runners' Results

Fair weather and a new course greet throngs of joggers, walkers.

  Perfect running weather and a sunny sky greeted thousands of runners - more than 4,400 - lined up in front of the State House in downtown Providence Sunday morning for the CVS Caremark Downtown 5K. Eighty-five Woonsocket runners jockeyed for position among the throngs running and walking the 5K course. City runners' times varied from the 20-minute to one-hour range.  The fastest Woonsocket runner in the men's division was William Ferullo with a time of 00:22:11. The fastest city runner in the women's division was Kelly Ryan with time of 00:22:38.  Most of the crowd sported CVS-issue lime green running jerseys, but a few showed up for the race in costume to add a little extra fun to an already upbeat mood.  There were about 34 runners …

CVS Caremark 5K: Are You Running?

  There's still time to register for the CVS Caremark Downtown 5k in Providence, if you're willing to trek down to Providence today or get up super early Sunday to register on site. The day features the CVS Caremark Downtown 5k, The Tufts Health Plan High School Inspirational 3K and youth races of varying distances.   There are about 34 runners from Woonsocket High participating in the 3K High School Inspirational list that takes place after the CVS Caremark 5K. A lot of Woonsocket children are expected to run in the morning youth races, too. So, tell us - are you one of the local runners planning to run Sunday? 2011 CVS Caremark Downtown 5K Raises $75,000 for Charity

Funds awarded to youth-focused nonprofit organizations and schools from Southern New England during CVS Caremark’s 12-year sponsorship of race reaches $1.3 million.

CVS Caremark Downtown 5K celebrated the race's 22nd anniversary at a dinner ceremony Tuesday, presenting approximately $75,000 in grants to nearly 50 youth-focused nonprofit organizations and schools from Southern New England, including $500 grants for physical education programs at Woonsocket High School and Mount St. Charles Academy. More than 150 youths and adults – including track and field coaches, student runners, and representatives from area nonprofit organizations – convened in Woonsocket at the CVS Caremark Customer Support Center for the special celebration. Downtown 5K Draws 7,000

Elite runners from across the globe compete alongside local students, walkers and professionals at the 22nd CVS Caremark Downtown 5K.

A mix of 7,000 elite and other competitive runners, recreational runners, wheelchair competitors, walkers and children flocked to Providence for the 22nd CVS Caremark Downtown 5K on Sunday. The annual race offered 21 different competitive levels divided according to age and ability. Professional athletes competed to be the National 5K Champion, while recreational runners aimed for personal best times. Children with physical and intellectual disabilities enjoyed an inspirational event while a 3K for high school runners incorporated a costume contest. Amateur runners competed as individuals or on college, corporate and gym teams. More than 4,600 people participated in the main 5K race while 1,200 “up and coming” runners took part in the …

CVS Caremark Downtown 5K Announces Preliminary Elite Runner Field for Sept. 18 Race

This year’s elite field thought to be among best in race’s 22-year history.

The streets of Providence will soon be filled with some of the most elite runners from around the world. The professional runners – 29 to date – will converge in Providence on Sept. 18 for the 22nd anniversary of the CVS Caremark Downtown 5K.
