Community Comes Together To Help Bernon Heights Elementary

Boys Town New England along with several other local businesses join effort to help make Bernon Heights Elementary School playground a reality.

A local organization with the express goal of helping families in need has come forward to help Woonsocket youth in a different way: by helping to give kids a safe place to play. Every day children in communities throughout New England are victims of abuse and neglect. They may be living in homes with unsafe conditions, lack of finances, lingering effects of natural disasters, or even worse. These and other circumstances that children sometimes face can leave them in need of a safe place to live.  That's where Boys Town Foster Family comes in. Here are five things you need to know: Bernon Heights Announces Spookfest Bernon Heights Elementary School PTO has announced the details of their 2nd annual Spookfest. The event will be held on Saturday, Oct. 15 and will raise money for the school's playground Spookfest is open to the public and will be held on the school's athletic field. The event features Halloween-themed games, including a Haunted Haystack and Pumpkin Seed Toss, pumpkin painting, arts and crafts, and food booths. A portion of the school’s Nature and Fitness Trail will be transformed into a pirate-themed Spooky Trail that is guaranteed to thrill and delight children of all ages! Visitors To Bernon Heights Teach Lessons Of 9/11

Major General Reginald Centracchio joins city officials to discuss the tragedy with Bernon Heights Elementary students.

Over the past weekend, students at Bernon Heights Elementary were busy doing good deeds and performing simple acts of kindness to commemorate the tenth anniversary of the terrorist acts which took place on September 11, 2001. While the tragic events happened before most of these students were born, the teachers and support staff at Bernon Heights have taken this opportunity to teach the students about the importance of coming together to help others on a daily basis as well as in times of need, just as the nation did in the hours, days and weeks after the attacks on 9/11. Open House To Kick Off School Year At Bernon Heights

Bernon Heights Elementary School to hold Open House/Barbeque to Welcome Students to the 2011-2012 School Year.

Bernon Heights Elementary School will open its doors to parents and students for an evening including refreshments and the opportunity to meet staff and gain information regarding the upcoming school year on Monday, August 29.  The 2011-2012 Open House will kick off with a barbeque for students, parents and teachers. After the barbeque, parents will get to meet their child’s teacher and learn about events and fundraisers planned over the next few months. They will also be able to buy school merchandise.   Parents will also be able to meet representatives from several local school groups, including B.H.E.S.’s Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) and School Improvement Team (SIT), as well as the Parent Advisory Council (PAC), Special Education …

Votes Help City Schools Win Supplies

Avery's Give Back To Schools promotion includes prizes of up to $10,000 worth of Avery school supplies and Bernon Heights Elementary is currently in 59th place.

Bernon Heights Elementary is currently the highest ranked school in Rhode Island in the Avery Give Back to School Promotion, but they will need more votes in the online contest to translate that ranking into free school supplies for students. The top five schools at the end of the promotion, which runs until Sept. 16, will each win $10,000 worth of Avery School Supplies (a truckload,) 10,000 Bonus Box Tops coupons (which translates to $1,000 in cash) and $1,000 worth of gift cards. Twenty-five runner-up schools will also win 5,000 Bonus Box Tops coupons ($500 cash.)
