Beacon Charter High School opened in Woonsocket in 2003.  The school offers a unique program combining collegeMore preparation with arts and business, focusing on three divisions -- visual, performing, and culinary arts. The student body at Beacon has consistently performed well on NECAP tests in reading, writing, algebra and geometry. The school has won multiple awards, including a US News and World Report Bronze medal for being on the "Best of U.S. High Schools" list for 2008. New applications are accepted and when the school is at full capacity, a lottery system is used to choose new students. The school is publicly funded and tuition free.

The Greater Woonsocket Catholic Regional School System consists of two catholic educational facilities:  MonsignorMore Gadoury Catholic Regional School and Good Shepherd Catholic Regional School. The programs for both schools combine Catholic teaching with traditional education. The administrative offices at Federal Street are operated by Administrator Paula A. Hurteau with the help of Office Manager Janice Cabana.

The schools replaced Park Place inMore January of 2010 after an $80 million construction project turned 19 acres of land, formerly used for industrial property, into large, modern education facilities. The schools share a large athletic field along with many of the teachers. Universal breakfast is served from 7 to 7:25 a.m. every school day.
