Common sense??? I'll make it easy to understand. LEAVE THE DOG HOME!!!!!!! Enough said!!!
morlamweb July 12, 2014 at 03:04 pm
I agree, Stephanie! "Common" sense should be to leave your dog at home. What Cai andRead More Michael don't seem to get is that temperatures in a parked car get very hot very quickly, particularly in the hot summer sun. Even four minutes in the shade with the windows open can make it uncomfortably hot in the car. Believe me, if I see a dog trapped in a hot car, I WILL report it. Responsible dog owners do NOT leave their "beloved" dogs in the car!
Samantha Marley August July 14, 2014 at 01:01 pm
My car doesn't have AC. If I can drive around for hours without getting too hot, or sit in theRead More direct sunlight with the windows open and not overheat, I think a dog can survive three minutes with ice water and windows down.

Honestly, in 1989 I was caught in Portsmouth throwing a soda can out of my car, coming around theRead More bend at the overlook near Kaiser Aluminum. I had to go to court and paid a $50.00 fine and it is still on my record. On the very rare occasion I have some interaction with law enforcement it is VERY embarrassing, now that I am older and know better. EVERY police officer WILL enforce that law IF the offence is observed. BELIEVE IT......

It's now illegal in Rhode Island to leave a dog in a sweltering vehicle. File photo.
MillicentBroderick July 8, 2014 at 09:47 pm
There are a fair number of people who are genuinely unaware of the danger, there are people who doRead More not like to be told how to run their lives and that extends to the creature in the car. I have on 4 occasions nicely and politely informed a person that it would be harmful to their dog to leave it in the car, as the dog had been. I have never had anyone say thank you I did not realize. I have been threatened with violence and basically run off. So what does that say. That is why it needs to be a law..so there is no "discussion". awful.
Samantha Marley August July 14, 2014 at 12:35 pm
If it's illegal to leave pets outside, we should be able to take them into the stores with us. MyRead More dog is an adorable long-haired Chihuahua. Everyone on earth wants to pet him and hug him, and for that reason I can't leave him outside a car -- he's very nervous and I wouldn't put it past him to nip or bite someone who tries to pet him. He's safer in the car. I also leave all the windows open, leave him loosely tied to the seat to leave him enough room to move around, and leave water with ice in it for him. This is all for a two second run into the store, literally never more than three minutes. I just think it all comes down to common sense. Don't leave anything in the car with all the windows up. Roll them down or put on the AC. However, I don't think any random person should be able to smash in my windows that are already mostly rolled down to get to a dog who is perfectly fine hah. This just seems sorta ridiculous. Obviously, don't hurt animals. I am actually huge on animal rights. This just seems excessive.
Kellie Jackson July 21, 2014 at 02:38 pm
Samantha, no. Just no. You shouldn't be allowed to bring your pets into stores. If you have to goRead More shopping, leave your pets at HOME. They don't belong in stores, making messes that most customers leave for the associates to clean up. If it's a service animal, that's fine. No other exceptions...

Simple math indicates that this mother had her child at the age of 16. Which would mean that sheRead More became pregnant at 15. Should we continue to allow teenagers to keep their children? Or is it time to re-open orphanages, or mandate abortions for minors? - There are already tens of thousands of children in our country's broken foster-care system, who are (according to various studies and reports) experiencing abuse of all kinds. Some far worse than what his mother was dishing out. So that's not the answer. This is more than an individual problem. It's societal. And we spend lots of $$$ on it. How can we fix it -- and do we really have the commitment to our nation's children of all colors and ethnicities to do so? -- In other words, in response to some of the very racist comments on this site (Yes, it's great to be White in America) -- her chid is at least half Black, too. With this kind of "upbringing" he's likely going to end up in juvenile detention. Does anyone want to save him? Better do it NOW.
Heavy G July 8, 2014 at 07:10 am
This is a societal problem yes one part of society. There have been many cultures that have had toRead More deal with adversity and discrimination. The Irish had to live in squalor and I don’t know if you have ever heard of no Irish for hire signs back in American history. Also there is a book called from Hell to Barbados about Irish slaves that used to be hung and burned. The American Indians were slaughtered. The Chinese used as slaves to build our railroads we can go on and on but you have to look at facts Crime statistics. Plus please don’t try and tell people that they don’t know the more kids the more EBT. The earned income tax credit. The free health care the free phone. And you are right this is a vicious cycle of abusing the system of handouts. We need to have tuff regulations like drug screening. Job training centers. Daycare so they can get trained. How about you work for the City 30 hours and do ten hours of job training you get 40 hr. of welfare. The city could save a fortune by having welfare recipients clean the streets and pull weeds from the sidewalks fill pot holes plenty of those around.

Total BS. I live in Woosocket. We are right next to the border of Massachusetts. We have gunshotsRead More every day. Accidents 5/8 times a day. I walk over the border and everything is much cheaper. We have 6(six) on our block alone and they allow children to live on this block knowing 2 of them wewre convicted pedophiles. These statistics are falsified. I had my home insurance policy with Union Mutual Fire Insurance Company of Vermont, policy purchasedRead More from AAA. Last September the area of Sowams Road was hit by a wind driven hail storm that caused damage to most roofs in the area.
