Rosie's Luncheonette & Variety is one of the last Mom & Pop stores in the area. Originally established in 1970 at 48 N. Main St., Rosie's moved to its current location in 1989—which makes it 40 years old! Owner and manager Rosie Cherwinski has been there since day one, and though she is now 79 years old, you will still find her seated in her chair greeting customers and keeping a close eye on the employees. A simple place for simpler times, Rosie's sole menu hangs on the wall above the lunch counter, where it's always been. The menu consists of basic breakfast items as well as such lunch favorites such as burgers, hot dogs, kielbasa, grilled cheese and salads. If you're planning to pay with a credit card, forget it! This is a cash only business.

Rosie's is also the local variety store. Folks looking to sell a particular item can bring it to Rosie's, where she'll add it to her shelves of needful things and knick knacks. Offering an old-fashioned, cozy atmosphere, Rosie's is a nice change from the hustle and bustle of mainstream restaurants. Stop in, and if you're lucky, you just might hear one of Rosie's stories about the "good old days" here in Woonsocket.
