Monday Essentials: Vets, Budget Commission, Adopt a Family Deadline Near

Veterans Day - Today is Veterans Day, a national holiday set aside to honor servicemen and women who have served in the armed forces. This year, Woonsocket's celebration returns to the Museum of Work and Culture, 42 South Main St. at 10 a.m.

This year, the ceremony will focus on World War II, with speakers, a flag raising ceremony, playing of taps and a moment of silence.

Richard Schatz, President of the United Veterans Council of Woonsocket and Veterans Agent Ernest Boisvert will attend, and all the city's veterans are invited. So are you.

The Museum will be open after the ceremony, with regular admission: $6, kids and seniors, $8 for adults.

Budget Commission
- The Woonsocket Budget Commission meets tomorrow, Tuesday, 5 p.m. at the Woonsocket Middle School at Hamlet, for a change, because of the unavailability of meeting rooms at City Hall.
