FRCA and the Salvation Army extended their appreciation to the 90 volunteers who put in more than 1,300 hours staffing kettles at local storesin a press release Thursday. The campaign would also not have been possible without the support of local merchants in Woonsocket and Stop & Shop, Wal-Mart and Brigido’s in North Smithfield that hosted kettles in their stores.

“These funds are especially appreciated during these challenging economic times when families struggle to make ends meet and many households live paycheck to paycheck," said Darlene Magaw, FRCA Family Support Services Director. "This assistance helps families in crisis from becoming homeless or losing their utilities.”
