Last Chance: Apply as Greenway Challenge Charitable Recipient

May 1 is the deadline for non-profits to apply to be part of this year's event.

 

Time is running out for Non-profit Blackstone Valley organizations to apply to become a Charitable Recipient of the 2012 UniBank Blackstone River Valley Greenway Challenge.

Ths year the event, which is sponsored by the . will be held Sept. 29. Each year, athletes run (about 5 miles), paddle and bike (15-20 miles) on a new course, through the Blackstone River Valley National Heritage Corridor.

To be eligible for consideration as a recipient, non-profit organizations, including school groups and 501(c)3 clubs, must have a mission similar to that of the Greenway Challenge — which includes promoting the recreational opportunities in the Blackstone River Valley National Heritage Corridor, supporting the 2015 Swimmable-Fishable clean water campaign; clean-up and maintenance of greenways, hiking and biking trails, wild life projects, environmental education and development of waterway access.

Applicants must provide an explanation of their organization or club’s mission, assist in the planning of the 2012 Greenway Challenge, and host a transition site on the day of the event.
