Blackstone River Bikepath Between Ashton and Albion To Close Tonight

Section will be closed until Friday at 6 p.m.

If you're planning a weekday bike ride south of the city on the Blackstone River Bikeway between now and Friday, you're going to have to map out a detour around Ashton and Albion.

The bikeway will close tonight at 6 p.m. between the two villages, from Front Street in Cumberland (at the Ashton Viaduct) to School Street in Lincoln.

The closure will allow the RIDOT to work on part of the Blackstone Viaduct project (I-295 near Exit 10 on the Lincoln/Cumberland line) on the highway bridge, which passes over the path, without endangering bikepath patrons.

The section of the path will re-open 6 p.m. on Friday, June 29.
