Mount St. Charles, Woonsocket High Students To Perform In Jazz Festival Thursday

Stadium Theatre Event will showcase 90 student musicians.

 

Jazz band students from Mount Saint Charles Academy are tuning up their swing charts for the 17th Annual Blackstone Valley Jazz Festival at Stadium Theatre on Thursday, Feb. 14 at 7pm.

In addition to the MSC jazz band, the Blackstone Valley Jazz Festival will display the high-energy sounds of jazz bands from Blackstone-Millville Regional High School, North Smithfield High School, and Woonsocket High School.  Approximately 90 students will perform under the bright lights of the historic Stadium Theatre.

The Blackstone Valley Jazz Festival is a unique collaborative presentation by our local high schools’ music departments. The festival will be held at Woonsocket’s Stadium Theatre which is the perfect venue for audiences to enjoy the marvelous sounds of high school jazz.  March Blanchette, Mount Saint Charles Academy’s Music Director, said, “The festival will showcase a wide variety of musical styles and selections which will really add to the enjoyment of hearing these dedicated and talented young musicians.” 

The concert is being professionally recorded and CDs will be available for purchase. It will be broadcast live on WOON 1240 AM and will also stream live on their website http://www.onworldwide.com. Tickets are $6 and will be sold at the door. Tickets are also available in advance at Mount Saint Charles Academy, Blackstone-Millville Regional High School, North Smithfield High School, and Woonsocket High School. Proceeds will benefit the four high school music departments as well as the Stadium Theatre.
