Where is your dog?

With the passing of two recent heat waves and perhaps more to come, apparently some folks need a "lesson" in human behavior.  Why would you leave your pet, child or elderly relative in a hot car?  Why?
I have pets and I can assure you, they have no desire to wait for me while I "run in" to the store.  They are sitting at home eating frosty paws in the A/C while I run errands.
I know the debate lately has been how far can we go to save an animal left in a hot car.  Well, if it were a person I don't think we would hesitate to break the window and remove them.  For a pet there seems to be some question of whether or not this is acceptable.  We do, after all, live in a "sue happy" society.  So here's what I've decided to do.  If I am at the grocery store and I see your pet in a hot car, shade or sun, windows up or down, I'm going to go in the store to the fish department and buy whatever seafood is on sale.  Then I'm going to trade the fish for your pet.  I will leave the fish in your "hot car" and take your pet to a nice cool place.  How's that?  It's not stealing, it's trading.
Common sense people, our pets depend on us for everything.  Why endanger them?  If they are destructive when left home, crate them.  Trust me, it's more humane than a hot car.  If they are lonely, get them a companion, but don't take them with you.
