Should Woonsocket Allow Backyard Chickens?

The council on Monday night will review a proposal that would allow backyard chickens. Councilors voted down a similar proposal last year.

The Woonsocket City Council will review another proposal that would allow backyard chickens in the city.

The council last year rejected an ordinance that would have allowed backyard chickens. Critics were concerned about the noise, smell, and the prospect that the chickens could attract pests.

The council on Monday night will review an ordinance sponsored by Councilor Dan Gendron, according to ABC 6.

His proposal would allow chicken keepers to go before the Zoning Board for approval to raise backyard chickens.
