Totally Tuesday: Autumnfest Kickoff, Farmer's Market

Check out these things to know so you can wind up for a terrific Tuesday:

 

Autumfest kickoff - A week-long series of action-packed activities awaits Woonsocket's citizenry, starting with tonight's kickoff dinner event, The Autumnfest Grand Marshal's Ceremony at St. Ann Arts and Cultural Center. Mayor Leo Fontaine will officially present Grand Marshal Bob Picard, the director of Woonsocket Senior Services, with the first Autumnfest button. The night will be catered by Deli Encounters. Tickets are $15 at the door.

Farmer's market - The Woonsocket Farmers Market is open every Tuesday from 3:30 - 6:30 p.m. at Thundermist Health Center. Swing by and check out the fresh food and items for sale. The market is held every Tuesday through Oct. 30 from 3:30 - 6:30 p.m. For more information, visit their website.

Race Against Racism - Don't forget to register  for the Race Against Racism 5K during Autumnfest Oct. 7. The entry fee is $25, and $27 the day of the race.  The Race Against Racism is organized by YWCA Rhode Island.  Race Partners include: RiverzEdge Arts, NeighborWorks Blackstone River Valley, Family Resources Community Action, nriAHEC, Connecting for Children & Families, Thundermist Health Center, Landmark Medical Center, Autumnfest, Woonsocket Prevention Coalition, and CopsWalk 2012.  To register to run/walk or participate as a volunteer contact YWCA Rhode Island at 401-769 - 7450 or visit the race website, www.raceagainstracismri.org.

Autumnfest volunteers sought Want to volunteer at Autumnfest? Every year a group of awesome youth get together to help at the refreshment booth. It's a great way to catch everybody that comes through. You can sign up to just do a three-hour shift, or more. Call 401-766-3342.

Register to vote - Oct. 7 is the deadline to register to vote for the Nov. 6 election, and Oct. 16 is the deadline to request a mail-in ballot. This election season voters will also be required to show a voter ID.
