State lawmakers are considering the impact of shifting control of HealthSource RI to the federal government.

The health insurance exchange would cost the state about $24 million a year starting in the 2015 fiscal year, according to the Associated Press. Lawmakers haven't figured out exactly how to pay for that figure, and some are questioning if the state can even afford it.

HealthSource RI Director Christine Ferguson said moving the marketplace to the federal exchange would be "shortsighted."

About 20,000 people have purchased health insurance through HealhSource RI so far, according to the AP.

I think we should give this "gift" back to the Feds. Rhode Island is in dire straits already. People here in RI cannot continue this funding--no surprise. Many of us knew this was coming. Read the numbers. Kate Leonard

24 million for just ADMINISTRATION! Think it would be easier to just buy policies on the open market for those without insurance? I knew when Obummer first touted this idea it was a losing proposition. Anything you can think of the feds took over and did better than the states?

That Opoopflinger care has caused more issues to the whole country than the pension issues caused in this state. Gumpy couldn't handle the pressure of managing any of it. It's like having 20 dollar car insurance. When it's time to fix your car you pay the first 10,000 thousand dollars and only then will the insurance kick in.

Did anyone read the latest change to Obummercare? You can opt out in writing by telling them you don't like any plans available, PROOF is "optional" lmfao well i guess thats an easy out huh? Why would anyone pay?
