Sequino Returns To Woonsocket Budget Commission

Temporary return will fill out panel while DOR seeks new chairman.

Former Woonsocket Budget Commission Chairman Bill Sequino surprised members of the panel and the public attending their July 15 meeting when he unceremoniously took a seat next to Commissioner Peder Schaefer as the meeting started.

"They needed some help temporarily," Sequino said on his way out of City Hall after the meeting ended.

Sequino, who left the panel and his job as East Greenwich Town Manager last month to take a new post as executive director at the quasi-public R.I. Clean Water Finance Agency, is only serving as a member of the panel. He has not returned as chairman, said Christy Healey, Deputy Director of the Department of Revenue.

The DOR is continuing to search for a new chairman of the Commission, Healey said. In the meantime, Woonsocket Budget Commission member Dina DuTremble, who led the July 15 meeting, will continue as interim chairwoman of the panel.

The Budget Commission's next meeting is scheduled for July 29.
