NRI Chamber Breakfast Oct. 31 To Discuss Casino Gaming Expansion

Event at Twin River will focus on Ballot Question 2.

 

The Northern Rhode Island Chamber of Commerce will hold a special Eggs & Issues Breakfast on Wednesday, Oct. 31 at the Twin River Event Center in Lincoln from 7:50 – 9:15 a.m. where Twin River Chairman of the Board, John Taylor, will discuss Nov. 6 Ballot Question 2 which would allow the expansion of casino gambling and the impact of Twin River becoming a full-fledged casino here in theState of Rhode Island.

With unemployment in the state of Rhode Island at record highs, the NRI Chamber and the Coalition to Bring Jobs to RI view the referendum to be a win for Rhode Island in terms of job creation – it isprojected that roughly 350 new jobs will be created, an additional 300 related jobs created and the referendum will protect 900 existing jobs; the infusion of new tax revenue is projected to generateroughly $16.2 million into the state; and there is an additional $60 million projected influx of additional spending to the local business community.

Attendees of the NRI Chamber are invited to attend the breakfast to learn the facts surrounding thereferendum before they cast their vote on Nov. 6.
