Doherty Campaign Opening Woonsocket Office

Site will open doors downtown at 6 p.m.

Republican candidate Brendan Doherty, who's running against incumbent Democrat Congressman David Cicilline for Rhode Island’s First Congressional District, will open a satellite headquarters at 2 Main St. tonight.

“I am pleased to be able to announce that my campaign will be opening a satellite headquarters in downtown Woonsocket,” said Doherty. “Not only will this allow residents of Woonsocket a central and convenient location to come and volunteer, but it will also help our supporters throughout the Blackstone Valley who would like a place a little closer to home where they can make phone calls, pick up lawn signs, and be part of the team.”

The main number is (401) 597-5039. The office will officially open at 6 p.m., where volunteers and supporters are welcome to enjoy food and refreshments, as well as meet Brendan and the staff.

No change with this guy either,he'll vote for anything that expands the power of the police and military and he'll vote for war.Jmho,we need a viable third party candidate.
Jerry August 14, 2012 at 04:53 PM
I heard Brendon Doherty is against unions...gee that's funny, isn't that how he is getting his pension today? He's been a union state cop for at least 20 years. If this is true, just what we need, ANOTHER LIAR IN POLITICS !!
Common Sense August 14, 2012 at 05:46 PM
This man has served this Country and this State for almost half his life. You two have probably only served yourselves. Grow a set and run for office if you think you are smarter or more qualified. The only thing I see you qualified to do is complain and you excel at that.
Dave August 14, 2012 at 05:56 PM
He's served himself and got paid really well to do it.Grow a brain, you'll lose your rights with this guy and others like him.
Common Sense August 14, 2012 at 06:19 PM
Paid really well? Could have earned alot more in the private sector like the incumbent ...he did risk his life doing it too. Served himself? How? Losing rights? Law abiding citizens need not fear him. Nice conspiracy theory though ...
Common Sense August 14, 2012 at 06:20 PM
Like I said. Stop complaining and run for office yourself if you think you can do a better job...

Great to see Uncle Charlie Baldelli running three campaigns this year for Republicans. Doherty, Jon Brien and Lisa Baldelli. At least I give Doherty credit for registering as Republican. The other two are cowards afraid to come out.
Dave August 14, 2012 at 08:30 PM
He'll support any legislation that'll lock people up,like spiting on the sidewalk.I'll run,you got 100 grand i can borrow, because that's what it takes.
Russell Archambault August 14, 2012 at 09:29 PM
Im going to meet this person tonight. Heis an honorable man who has serverd with honor. Yes a union cop. Is there any other kind of cop. So are teachers and many others. Thet have no choice but to be in the unions. Im not a union person, but at some point one has to put things aside and do the right thing. Also i think lisa baldelli has more balls than most of patch writers. One thing i do know shes smarter than most of us.
Jerry August 14, 2012 at 09:39 PM
I think you could use some "common sense". He shouldn't of made that comment about unions, since that's where he got his start. That's common sense.
Russell Archambault August 14, 2012 at 09:45 PM
d-- dont know what your agenda is but so far you have not one valid point.
Steve August 14, 2012 at 10:38 PM
Hmmmm, let me get this straight, for once, we have an upstanding candidate running against an incumbent, self centered, self promoting slime ball that virtually ran the capital city into bankruptcy? Is this even a choice? Oh wait, he helped me get my meds..... Laughable at best!
Dave August 14, 2012 at 11:00 PM
I don't have an agenda,i'm just sayin' that because he was a cop and he'll look at the world through the eyes of his profession that he'll vote for anything that'll take away civil liberties. He'll vote for safety at the expense of liberty.I don't like any of the candidates and i'm sick of voting for lesser of two evils.I'll stay home in November.
Common Sense August 14, 2012 at 11:12 PM
Maybe we can convince Dave to stay home next November as well. One less vote for Barack "free phone" Obama
Dave August 14, 2012 at 11:17 PM
Before it was free phone Obama it was free phone Bush.Get my drift, they all smell bad.
Common Sense August 14, 2012 at 11:52 PM
If they "all" smell bad why waste your time complaining about them individually? Just say they all suck and be done with it.
Dave August 14, 2012 at 11:57 PM
I'm not complaining,i'm commenting. But if it makes you feel better i'll say it,they all suck. They care about one thing and one thing only,MONEY!
George Lacouture August 15, 2012 at 12:15 AM
Thank you Marc for telling what it is.
Russell Archambault August 15, 2012 at 12:18 AM
I smell bad also, have not taken a shower in 4 days, but the facts are i dont like to many people either. perhaps like you D but i will put my faith in dohorty.Give this one a chance. He knows how to run business. On Obama or the other guy we will certainly be in trouble one way or the other.
Dave August 15, 2012 at 01:54 AM
I'll agree on that Russell,i've been there with the fire inspection too. Can't sell without permission from the protection rackets and they'll charge you 30 bucks for the priviledge.

Hi, everyone - Thanks for your comments and participation here. Remember, if you feel the need to accuse someone of a crime, the place to do that is at the police department.
Martha Tetreault August 16, 2012 at 03:46 PM
Yes, Brendan Doherty was a state policeman, also yes he was in the uonion, Yes he has seen both sides of the isle, meaning that he has seen and worked against corruption and Brendon Doherty will bring the same work ethics to Washington, fighting corruption, and bringing integrity & honesty with him. What else could any of else hope for. He is a descent man and it would be nice if we showed him respect. A
