Woonsocket Police Arrest Man Wanted in Nov. 30 Firearm Theft

Woonsocket Police located and arrested Joshua Rojas, 19, on Hebert Street Dec. 5, charging him in the Nov. 30 theft of a firearm from an acquaintance.

On Nov. 30, Rojas was in a vehicle on Harris Avenue with two men, a friend and a friend of a friend. Rojas, who knew from past encounters that the second man carried a .45 caliber semi-automatic pistol, pointed his own gun at his acquaintance and demanded the weapon, according to police reports. 

The other passenger handed over his gun, for which he had a legal license to carry, and Rojas took it and fled, pointing the man's own gun at him as he left, according to a report.

Detectives, following information that Rojas was at his grandmother's house, located him at the 51 Hebert St. address and took him to Woonsocket Police Headquarters for questioning. Rojas declined to speak with detectives about the case. 

Rojas was charged with robbery of an occupant of a motor vehicles, larceny of a firearm and extortion & blackmail, all felony charges.
