A 39-year-old Woonsocket man and former employee at Automatic Temperature Controls in Cranston is facing charges of embezzlement for allegedly bilking the company of $34,826 in his job as controller.

State Police Superintendent Steven G. O'Donnell announced the arrest of Jason D. Boudreau, of 428 Logee St., 2nd Floor, on Friday and said he used his job to make fraudulent payroll journals to get unauthorized bonuses.

Boudreau was arraigned before Judge William C. Clifton in Third Division District Court and was released on $20,000 personal recognizance.

He is due to return to court on Aug. 14 for a prearraignment conference.

If convicted, Boudreau could face up to 20 years in prison and a $50,000 fine.

Police said the investigation was launched after the company owner made a request.

Records show Boudreau is also a registered sex offender and was convicted of possession of child pornography and second-degree child molestation. The victim was a 7-year-old known to the offender.
