Woonsocket Man Arrested for Shoplifting at Smithfield Kohls

On Aug. 3 at about 12:35 p.m., Smithfield Police were called to Kohl's department store at 371 Putnam Pike for a report of a shoplifter.

While en route to the scene, officers received word that Kohl's loss prevention employee had followed the shoplifter, a man wearing jean shorts and a white T-shirt, thorough the parking lot and saw him enter Home Depot, according to a police report.

At about 12:44 p.m., officers spotted the shoplifter exiting Home Depot and running into the woods nearby. Lt. Dennis Paul apprehended the man, later identified as Lawrence Cascello, 29, of 50 Carrington Ave., Woonsocket. Officers discovered Cascello had stolen eight assorted T-shirts, worth a total of $80.

Cascello was arrested and charged with shoplifting. He also had a warrant for failing to appear in court Aug. 8 2012 for sentencing on a charge of driving without a license.
