Woman Arrested For DUI Kicks, Swears on Way to Jail

Officers James Dybala and David Wahl were on patrol Dec. 6 at about 1:30 a.m., when they observed a white Toyota Corrola travel through Market Square from Bernon Street at high speed, and followed it.

The vehicle suddenly accelerated to about 63 mph as it moved outbound on South Main Street, crossing the center line and nearly striking a traffic island before the officers pulled the car over on Mason Street.

Dybala spoke with the driver, later identified as Jillian Monique Godon, 27, of 46 Bourdon Blvd., Apt. 46, who smelled strongly of alcohol, according to Dybala's report. He asked her to step from the vehicle to perform a series of sobriety tests. She failed, showing lack of smooth pursuit in both eyes, stepping off line and missing heel to toe steps during the walk and turn and using both feet and her arms for balance during the one-leg stand.

Dybala arrested her, but she resisted, pulling from his grasp and flailing, making it necessary for two officers to handcuff her and placer her in a cruiser. On her way to the station, Dybala reported, Godin alternated between yelling obscenities and crying.

At the station, Godin continued to be uncooperative, slurring while she swore at officers, according to Officer Matthew Labine's report, at one point kicking at officers during processing. A check on Godin's vehicle revealed the registration was suspended, and Dybala called to have it towed from the scene. A check of her records also confirmed her license to drive had been suspended.

Godin was charged with DUI, refusal to submit to a chemical test, simple assault, resisting arrest, obstructing an officer and driving with a suspended license.
