Third Defendant In RI's Largest Drug Bust Sentenced to 11 Years

Adilson A. Reyes, 31, of Utah, one of  during the seizure of 65 kilos of cocaine and $1.2 million in cash in North Kingstown, has been sentenced to 11 years in federal prison.

US Attorney Peter F. Neronha and Rhode Island Attorney General Peter F. Kilmartin announced his sentence, 135 months behind bars, Monday.

During the raid, Rhode Island State Police seized nearly $6.6 million in cocaine and cash at a North Kingstown warehouse in what may be the largest drug bust in state history. The Woonsocket Police Department worked with the DEA and Rhode Island State Police in a joint partnership to make the bust.

U.S. District Court Chief Judge Mary M. Lisi also ordered Reyes to serve 5 years of supervised release upon completion of his prison term. Reyes pleaded guilty in April 2011 to conspiracy to distribute more than 5 kilograms of cocaine.

Armando Saucedo, 33, of California, a co-defendant in this matter, was sentenced Nov. 1, 2012, to 156 months in federal prison. The third defendant in this matter, Andrew Rios, 42, of California, is scheduled to be sentenced in federal court on Jan.11, 2013.

In September 2010, federal, state and local law enforcement, working in conjunction with the Rhode Island Attorney General’s Office, developed information about the trafficking of cocaine from outside Rhode Island into the state. The investigation led investigators to monitor activity at hotels in West Greenwich and Pawtucket, several vehicles, and a storage facility in North Kingstown.

 In January 2011, federal, state and local law enforcement agents executed search warrants and seized 65.07 kilos of cocaine, $1,245,070 in cash and a firearm from two vehicles and a storage facility in North Kingstown.

 The cases against all three defendants are being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Sandra R. Hebertand Paul F. Daly, Jr.
