State Troopers Nab Four Family Court Scofflaws

RI State Police arrested four Woonsocket men Wednesday in an early morning warrant sweep that rounded up 30 individuals statewide.

Members of the State Police Detective and Uniform Bureaus conducted the sweep with aid from the Rhode Island Division of Sheriffs and United States Marshals Service.

The sweep resulted in the arrest of 26 defendants due to on Rhode Island Family Court warrants for failing to appear for court proceedings and failure to pay child support. Those arrested collectively owe more than $360,000 in child support payments.The highest amount any individual owed was nearly $38,000. 

The Woonsocket arrests were:

  • Allen Harmon, 47, owing $24,625 in child support, for failure to appear in Family Court and failure to pay. 
  • Zachery Shepardson, 23, for failing to appear in Family Court. 
  • Keith Montgomery, 38, owing $1,504 in child support, for failure to appear in Family Court and failure to pay. 
  • Edward Howard, 36, owing $21,436 in child support, for failure to appear in Family Court and failure to pay. Howard was also wanted for failing to appear in Sixth District Court on a suspended license charge. 
Colonel Steven G. O’Donnell praised the members of the warrant sweep team. “I want to commend our troopers and sheriffs for facilitating this operation and bringing these defendants to court to face their debt. It is unfortunate that this was necessary to ensure that they meet the obligations that they have to their families,” O’Donnell said.
