Seatbelt Scofflaws Draw Officer to Wanted Woman

The following information was supplied by the Woonsocket Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction:

Buckling up is the law, but it also would've been a good idea for the passengers of Barrett Edwards' silver 2000 Saab Sept. 20 at 9:30 a.m., since one of them was wanted by the WPD for assault.

Woonsocket Police Officer Andrew Girard noticed the back seat passengers of the car were not wearing seat belts as it passed him near 800 Diamond Hill Road, and stopped the car near Salisbury Avenue and Adams St., according to his report.

When one of the passengers, Michelle Kidder, 26, of 59 Salisbury St., handed him her license, Girard noted her hand was shaking. A check of her name with dispatch revealed Kidder was wanted for simple assault and battery of a woman.

Kidder was arrested on the warrant. Edwards was issued a citation for driving without seat belts on his passengers.
