Police Log: Woonsocket Man Arrested For Stealing Bicycles

This arrest information was supplied by the Woonsocket Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

 

On Aug. 8 at 3 p.m., responded to 48 Cold Spring Place for a call about two BMX bicycles that had been stolen.

Officers spoke with Benito Cudjo, who said two bikes, a Blue 20-inch Mongoose Tony Hawk BMX worth $85 and a silver/red 20-inch Mongoose BMX worth $85, had been stolen from his home where they had been padlocked. Police took his information and left.

At 4 p.m., police received another call From Cudjo, who said he had recovered the bikes from a man and a woman, Christine Morales, whom he had found riding them.

On Aug. 9, police spoke with Morales about the theft. She said that she and her boyfriend, George Knight, 18, of 39 Paradis Ave., apt. 1, had planned to steal the bikes.

On Aug. 10, police spoke with Knight, who said he knew of a friend who would buy the bicycles, and that he showed up earlier that week at Cudjo's home with a bolt cutter and cut the lock securing them. He and Morales then rode the bikes away. When Cudjo found them on the bikes, Knight said, he told him, "You're lucky you're not older, or I would split your head."

Knight also admitted to five vehicle break-ins in the area. He was arrested and charged with larceny under $500 and conspiracy.
