The following arrest information was supplied by the Woonsocket Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

What bike?

Ricky Ryan Herbert, 39, of 65 Aylesworth St. was arrested on Saturday at 8:14 p.m. after a 16-year-old witness told police that he watched Herbert get into an accident on his motorcycle and then drive away, leaving his passenger behind. When officers arrived, the witness pointed out the suspect and injured passenger Tammy Swiech. According to reports, Swiech was still wearing a helmet and appeared extremely intoxicated.

The witness told officers that he was walking down River Street when he saw a yellow scooter operated by Herbert crash. The female passenger fell off the bike during the accident and the witness said he watched Herbert attempt unsuccessfully to put her back on before driving off and leaving her behind. The 16-year-old called police and went to check if Swiech was injured.

Moments later, the witness said Herbert approached and pretended he was not involved. When the witness told the suspect that he'd seen the accident, Herbert tried to run away but the witness chased him.

The unregistered scooter was found parked by Our Pad. Herbert was charged with driving under the influence .15 or greater (second offense) and failure in duty to stop.
