Police Log: Man Arrested In WWII Park With Several Bags Of Heroin, Cocaine

This arrest information was supplied by the Woonsocket Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Two  officers on foot patrol in  Thursday caught a man trying to ditch several bags of cocaine and heroin before they noticed.

The officers' rounds were part of the Woonsocket Police Department’s ongoing patrols of the park, according to a release from WPD Public Information Officer Jamie L. Paone. The park is bordered by Social Street and East School Street. At about 6:30 p.m., the officers noticed a man in a vehicle on East School Street and approached him.

The man got out of his vehicle as they came near, and placed a plastic grocery bag in the bushes. When officers checked the bag they discovered several smaller individually wrapped bags of what they suspected was heroin and crack cocaine. In the vehicle, police located drug packing materials.

The man, identified as Ezequiel Santiago, 25, of 301 Ward St. Woonsocket, was arrested and charged with Possession of Crack Cocaine With Intent to Deliver and Possession of Heroin With Intent To Deliver. Santiago was  transported to Woonsocket Police Headquarters on Clinton Street for processing, then brought to District Court this morning.

They should really start looking into the corner of Bernon and Front and that corner market. That whole corner is a big drug spot.

We should get Borky to post a petition to change the name of our city from Woonsocket to Bumfuggleberry. What do you think?

Once again, the Police Department shows that even with smaller numbers than the Fire Department, they continue to get the job done, do it well and no complaints.

Does anyone else notice that most of the people getting arrested in the city are hispanic. Kind of shows the direction this city is heading.

Good job guys with the bums...now what about the drug dealers that drive around the city 24/7 in gorgeous cars???? You know who they are and know what they do, what about them?? I don't really care about the bums in the park, I care about the ones that you already know about and don't catch....
Common Sense September 03, 2012 at 03:18 AM
I'm no cop or lawyer but I think if you read the story carefully you will see that they charged him with intent to deliver...He IS a drug dealer. Again, Great job to the guys at the PD. Keep up the good work.
