Police Log: Driver Runs Stop Sign With Pot, Cocaine, Knives, Expired License

The following arrest information was provided by the Woonsocket Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

 

If you're going to drive around without a valid driver's license carrying two illegal knives, with marijuana in the console and cocaine in the trunk, you should probably pay special attention to stop signs.

But on Jan. 25 at 12:25 a.m., Officer Jason Berthelette saw the 2001 blue Chevy Impala driven by Josue Hernandez, 21, of 146 Burrington St., fail to stop at the intersection of Harris Avenue and pulled him over.

According to Berthelette's report, Hernandez told him his license was suspended. A search of Hernandez found two knives, one measuring three and one-eighths inches and the other measuring three and one-half inches, both illegal lengths. 

An search of Hernandez's vehicle turned up a bag of marijuana in the center console, a second bag of marijuana on the passenger's side floor, and a small bag of cocaine in the trunk, the last earning him a felony charge to go along with four misdemeanor charges for the other offenses.

Hernandez was arrested and charged with driving with a suspended license, possession of marijuana, possession of cocaine, a felony, driving in the posession of a controlled substance, and posessing illegal weapons.
