Man Points BB Gun at Trio Outside Burger King

The following arrest information was provided by the Woonsocket Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

On Aug. 23 at about 2:35 a.m., Woonsocket Police responded to Burger King on Social Street for a report of a man pointing a gun at boys riding their bikes nearby, eventually arresting Stephen Thomas Kreig, 39, of 122 Chester St., apt. 203.

As Woonsocket Police Officer Christopher Bouvier responded to the scene, he received word from Officer Jeffery Gagnon that he'd found the suspect described by the boys, finding a black Walther CP99 BB semi-automatic pistol. Bouvier met up with Gagnon, then drove to the Woonsocket Senior Center on Social Street to speak to the boys who reported the incident.

Bouvier spoke with three young men, one a 17-year old and the other two in their 20s, who said a man in his 30s with a crew cut had pulled up to them in a gray Hyundai while they were riding their bikes in front of the Burger King. The man got out of the car and asked them if any of them were riding a stolen Mongoose bicycle. The young men said they didn't know what he was talking about, after which the man went to his car and pulled out a black handgun, pointing it at the trio and saying, "I don't play."

The man then turned around, got back in his car and sped away down Social Street.

At Woonsocket Police Headquarters, officers searched Kreig, finding 10 mg of Mtheyphenidate, a schedule II illegal drug. Officers also discovered Kreig had a prior conviction for manufacturing possession of drugs with the intent to deliver.

Kreig was charged with two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon, possession of arms by a convict during a crime of violence and possession of illegal drugs, all felonies. He was also charged with disorderly conduct, a misdemeanor.
