UPDATE: Man Killed After Driving Mustang Into Tree Overnight Identified

AG, State Police performing routine investigation into crash that killed Anthony Lescarbeau.

Attorney General Peter Kilmartin's office and the RI State Police are investigating a fatal crash overnight caused when Anthony Lescarbeau, 33, fled Woonsocket Police during a traffic stop.

The driver of the red Ford Mustang was transported to Rhode Island hospital by helicopter last night and has since died, WPRI.com reports.

Emily Martineau, spokesperson for Kilmartin's office, said the Attorney General and the State Police are conducting an investigation into the crash, which is routine under these circumstances.

Martineau said last night, Woonsocket Police were making a traffic stop when the driver of the Mustang, whom Martineau would only identify as a 33-year-old man from the Blackstone area, fled, crashing into a tree.

A resident who lives nearby and declined to be identified said she had just come home from walking her dog at about 11:15 p.m. and closed her door when she heard the crash outside. She opened the door and saw the Mustang against a nearby tree with a police cruiser stopped behind it.

Woonsocket Police Lt. Eugene Jalette declined to speak about the crash, referring queries to the Attorney General's office. WPRI.com reports that police have identified the driver as Anthony Lescarbeau, 33. The report does not indicate whether State Police or Woonsocket Police disclosed the driver's identity.

Turnto10.com has a photo of the crash scene at the corner of Grove Avenue and Blakely Street. Lescarbeau was conscious when firefighters pulled him from the wreck.

Earlier reports of this incident stated the driver had crashed into a pole. Updates state it was in fact a tree. Woonsocket Patch will update this report as more information becomes available.

Who the hell are you to be putting his court records on here? They dont describe the kind of man he was, the kind of father he was. He may have made a few mistakes in life, but everybody has. Noboy's perfect. The most important thing about Anthony was he loved his family and he loved his chidren, he would've done ANYTHING for them. What happened to the day when people respected the dead? This man you choose to condemn is my son's father, and m son is old enough to read this blog, he's 12. Thank you all for your best wishes and condolances, but to those who choose to sign on and disrespect the dead, you should be ashamed of yourselves. I hope you sit back and wonder what ill words people will speak of you afer you die, cuz if you write things like this, someone is SURE to speak ill of you after your death. Respect the dead and let him rest in peace please. And I can only hope my son does not ever see what you shameful shit-talkin people have to say about someone you may or may not have even known. ~Trsh A.~~

However it happened, it's certainly a tragedy =(
la_mouffette June 20, 2012 at 05:30 AM
At first appearance, at least, it seems the law was broken on both sides, since it is also illegal to flee from the police when they request that you stop. But honestly, this story is so confusing, I can't even guess what could have actually happened =( Just very sad.
la_mouffette June 20, 2012 at 05:32 AM
Sincere condolences to you and your family, Teresa.

years ago I was going through a GREEN light when I was broadsided by a fleeing vehicle. The cops never even stopped to see if I was ok. Both cars were going at least 50+ miles on Winter Street and went right through their red light!

I didn't know your son, but my boyfriend did. my thoughts and prays are with you in this hard time of need. my boyfriend was near the crash when it happened but didn't know till later who it was. It still bothers him that he was there after it happened but didn't know who it was. he wishes he saw it instead of just hearing it so that he might be of some help to giving some understanding to what happened. Again our hearts are with you in your time of need. God Bless you and your family

RIP Anthony and Amy. I will always love you both. To Teresa, Audrey, and the kids... my condolences to you in this time of pain. The people who trash Anthony do it because they did not know him. They don't know anything. He wasn't perfect, but none of us are. He was a great friend to those of us lucky enough to be one.

A twisting car chase from Logee Street to Prospect Street speeding up to 80 mph resulted in the passenger's arrest on conspiracy charges Tuesday.

There is a saying that just came to me "pigs stick together in there dirt pile" and you and the "jerk" before you clearly fit right in. There is nobody to blame accept for the woonsocket police there something called proto call right and the did not follow it, clearly cause this would not be a discousion. Anthony aka Froggy did have a record so goes to show u judge mental jerks he has never been scared of going to jail and F.Y.I. He had alot of those charges cause he not a RAT so get your facts right befor you go and try to belittle my dear friend who is no longer with us to stck up for himself,he had a license he has not drank in a long time.No I was not there but me and most of my family grew up with him and trust me he's has never been scared or disrespecful to the police,so before you start running your mouth about someone you don't no get your facts right. The woonsocket cops are and have been very sideways for a long time, and of course for the third time in five years the state police are taking over again so let me ask you this WHY? There a bunch of rookies on power trips and this is one tragic exam, and yes there are people out there who do like running from police just for fun but as god as my witness he was not one of them.NOW IM GONNA ASK ONE TIME IF YOU DON'T KNW HIM AN WAS NOT THER WEN THIS HAPPENED THEN DON'T EVA TALK ABOUT THIS FATHER,BROTHER,SON,HUSBAND,AND VICTIM TO THE POLICE AGAIN!ANYONE WITH A HEART WOULD NEVER DISRESPECT THE FAM&FRNDS OF THS TRAGIDY,TY!

I would love to meet both of you, ana and toy mom, you woman both sound like the woman of my dreams.
Kevin T July 09, 2012 at 06:08 AM
anastasia levesque: Not sure why you would go and Slander someone without getting facts. You seem to always talk about facts but yet have non to show someone took money or anything. Should probably talk to the actual family before throwing names around and or Slandering someone. Reading this whole story is very sad but yet disturbing. If your family as you say then why would you be hurting the one's trying to actually help the family. Why not help them help. You have some serious issues you should have addressed. everyone blaming everyone when they should be coming together. It's So Shameful
Uncle Ben July 09, 2012 at 10:10 AM

I'm not at all involved in this argument, not taking any sides. But, please express your anger with clean language, this is a family site.

English first, I agree.... The comments on this post are a train wreck. Can comments be closed, Rob? This is terrible. You must be working your tail off, removing comments for foul language...

You people need to knock it off. I've known Anarchy and Toymom for basically my entire life. Can't people see that my mom and I are hurting???? Does it not matter that my brother and my sister both died 5 days apart????? Can we just get along??? Is there a need to fight and call names and insist people did this or that??? How would you feel if you lost your big brother and big sister 5 days apart and are all alone without them??? Let me and my family heal. Enough is enough. Stop the drama or don't post it's that simple. God RIP to my brother Anthony and RIP to my sister Amy. We'll meet again some day.
