Fourth of July Weekend: DUI Arrests, Fatal Crash, Missing Person Search

Woonsocket Police made three DUI arrests, responded to a fatal crash and got a call for a missing person believed to have jumped into the Blackstone River over the holiday weekend.

Woonsocket Police Det. Jamie Paone said the long holiday weekend was not an unusually busy one in most regards. She said the department only made three DUI arrests during that time.

Woonsocket Police Detectives are still investigating a fatal July 4 crash.  At about 3:56 a.m., Clyde K. Ewing (54) of 457 Diamond Hill Road crashed his motorcycle into a parked vehicle on East School Street.  He was later pronounced dead at Rhode Island Hospital. Paone said Tuesday the department has no new information to release on the crash.

Then, on Sunday at 12:03 a.m., the department received a report that someone had fallen into the Blackstone River. Woonsocket Firefighters launched boats to search, but found no evidence that anyone was in the water, according to Paone. Police are still investigating the report, she said.
