Federal investigators on Friday launched a search of House Speaker Gordon Fox's office and home, according to multiple reports.
The investigation involved the U.S. Attorney's office, FBI, IRS, and State Police, according to NECN.
A spokesman for the U.S. Attorney’s Office said authorities were executing a search warrant, according to the Providence Journal.
Fox is a Democrat from Providence and the first openly gay House Speaker in the country.
