City Woman Arrested for Assault, Crack Possession

Woonsocket Police arrested a city woman Nov. 29 when a bystander she asked, 'Did I assault her?," indicated she had, in fact, assaulted another woman.

Officers arrived in the vicinity of Social Street and East School/Elm Streets at 3:09 p.m. that day, responding to several calls reporting two women fighting, according to Sgt. Matthew Richardson's report.

Richardson spoke with both women, one of whom said she was walking on Social Street when the other woman, Jamie Mulvey, 46, of 836 Social St., approached her, shoved her, then jumped on her and started punching her. The two were involved in a disagreement over stolen property, according to the officer's report.

Mulvey said the other woman was the agressor, turning to a bystander and aksing, "Did I assault her?" The man looked directly at Mulvey and nodded, according to Richardson's report.

Richardson arrested Mulvey, and transported her to police headquarters at 242 Clinton St., where, during booking, she was discovered to be carrying two small bags of crack cocaine. She was charged with assault and possession of a controlled substance.
