Beaver Tempest Tries to Overturn Murder Conviction

Tempest was convicted of killing Doreen Picard in Woonsocket in 1982.

Raymond "Beaver" Tempest, who was found guilty in the 1982 murder of Doreen Picard in Woonsocket, is trying to to get his conviction overturned based on DNA evidence.

Tempest, 61, is serving an 85-year sentence, according to the Providence Journal.

His lawyers argued new DNA evidence shows Tempest wasn't the killer, the Journal reported.

Prosecutors said Tempest killed the 22-year-old Picard after she found him attacking her landlord.
