Alleged Woonsocket Heroin Dealer Indicted

Alfredo Balestier-Sanchez was charged with dealing heroin, fentanyl, morphine and codeine.

A Woonsocket man charged with dealing heroin and other powerful narcotics in the area has been indicted.

Alfredo Balestier-Sanchez, 32, was arrested earlier this month following a sting operation. Authorities said he went by the nickname "Negro."

He allegedly sold drugs to an informant working with local police and state drug agents. Authorities then raided his home and said they found drugs hidden in a tube of deodorant.

Balestier-Sanchez was also accused of selling fentanyl, morphine and codeine.

Authorities recently released court documents laying out the case against him. An indictment means a grand jury has determined a trial is warranted based on evidence in the case.

If convicted, Balestier-Sanchez faces a sentence of up to 20 years in federal prison and a $1 million fine.
