Community Corner
Public Good and Welfare
The public voice portion of the city council meetings are ridiculous. Last meeting, one guy couldn't put a full sentence together. Another guy kept speaking in circles and couldn't understand the complexities of municipal debt. One of the last guys, seemingly knowledgable, went on to make up facts. He said Woonsocket's population dropped by 10k in the last 20-25 years. Nope. 1990 = 43,877. 2014 = 41,244(est).
I'm all for public opinion. But when the soapbox is controlled by sensationalists and the misinformed, it can be poisonous and counter productive to the community. Can we have a pre-interview before these guys get to the mic? Or maybe they can express their concerns here first.
