ELO Firefighter Dinner

Woonsocket, RI – On Wednesday, May 8th at 6 PM Lincoln’s Limerock Fire Department, in collaboration with Expanded Learning Opportunities (ELO) Woonsocket, will be holding a free community dinner at the Woonsocket Elk’s Lodge. Though the target audience is high school students, the dinner is open to all interested in learning more about a career in public safety.

The dinner is hosted by Limerock’s Assistant Fire Chief and Elk’s member, Arthur Jacques, who has invited the Director of RI Fire Chiefs, Woonsocket Fire Department’s Deputy Chief, as well as a representative from the Woonsocket Police Department, to speak to students about what most departments today require before the application process even begins.

ELO Woonsocket, which assists Woonsocket High School students with developing their own course for credit, is in the midst of developing a pilot program with the Woonsocket Fire Department, slated to start this summer. In partnership with Chief Carey, ELO has successfully run a police program for the last two years.
