Normand R. Dextraze: Retired WFD Captain, Coast Guard Vet

Normand R. Dextraze, 72, of Woonsocket, died Saturday, August 31, 2013 at home, according to Holt Funeral Home.

He was the husband of Lucille A. (Boisvert) Dextraze, whom he married April 22, 1967.

Born in Woonsocket, he was the son of the late Donat and Lea (Blanchard) Dextraze. Normand was a graduate of Woonsocket High School and earned his Associates in fire science from CCRI.

He served on the Woonsocket Fire Department for 26 years, achieving the rank of Captain. Normand honorably served his country as a Radioman in the Coast Guard. He was a member of the Woonsocket Lodge of Elks and the Cercle Laurier. Normand enjoyed playing cards, bowling and golfing. For his full obituary, visit Holt Funeral Home's website.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, September 6, 2013 at 10 AM in St. John the Evangelist Church, 63 Church St., Slatersville. Burial with Military Honors will follow in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Bellingham, MA.

Calling hours are Thursday from 5-8 p.m. in the Holt Funeral Home, 510 So. Main St., Woonsocket. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Fireman's Relief Association, P.O. Box 395, Woonsocket, RI 02895.
