Minerva Fernandez: Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother

Minerva Fernandez, 64, of Harrisville, formerly of Woonsocket, died Wednesday afternoon at Hebert Nursing Home in Smithfield, according to Menard-Lacouture Funeral Home.

Born in Puerto Rico, she was a daughter of the late Joaquin and Andrea (Santiago) Castro. Minerva was raised in Puerto Rico and came to the United States as a teenager. She lived in Pennsylvania and Waltham, MA and had been a resident of Woonsocket for many years before moving to Harrisville several years ago.

She was employed in the local textile industry prior to retiring. Minerva was dedicated to being a mother and cherished her role as a grandmother and great-grandmother.

Visiting hours will be Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. in the Menard-Lacouture Funeral Home, 127 Carrington Ave., Woonsocket. Burial will be private.
