Lillian J. Chaput, 96: Textile Worker, Grandmother

Lillian J. Chaput, 96, formerly of 300 Privilege St. Woonsocket died Wednesday at The Holiday in Manville.

She was the wife of the late Albert J. Chaput.

Born in Woonsocket she was a daughter of the late Philippe and Georgeanna (Roy) Gariepy. She was a lifelong resident of the city and had resided at The Holiday for the past several years.

Chaput was employed in the local textile industry at several area firms including the French Worsted, Bell Worsted, and the Verdun Worsted mills.

Lillian was a longtime communicant of All Saints Parish and a member of the Waterview Tenants Association. She enjoyed crocheting and knitting and baking treats for family and friends.

Lillian will be remembered as a loving wife and mother and adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by son Donald A. Chaput, and his wife Patricia, of Branford, CT, and a daughter Lorraine L. Lavoie, and her husband Paul, of Woonsocket, three grandchildren David Lavoie, Donna Burns and Brian Chaput and three great-grandchildren Aiden and Cameryn Burns and Audrey Chaput. She was the sister of Doris Bernier of Mapleville and Hortense Lanois of Woonsocket and the late Raoul Gariepy, Simone Girard, Marguerite Bouley, Alida Trudel and Aline Amarent. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Her Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday at 11 am in All Saints Church, Rathbun St., Woonsocket. Burial will follow in St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery, Bellingham. Visiting hours are Monday morning from 9 – 10:30 am, prior to Mass, in the Menard-Lacouture Funeral Home, 127 Carrington Ave.
