Joan F. Jalette: Teacher For 28 Years, Avid Walker

Woonsocket native died Jan. 11 surrounded by family.

 

Joan F. Jalette, 63, of Stillwater Dr. died Friday, Jan. 11 surrounded by her loving family, according to the JJ Duffy Funeral Home.

She was the beloved wife of Maurice "Moe" Jalette. 

Born in Woonsocket she was the daughter of the late Edward and Bridget (Susla) Rec. She had resided in Cumberland for the past 22 years. 
Joan was a teacher at the East Woonsocket School where she taught fourth grade for 28 years retiring in 1991. She was a member of the Woonsocket Teachers Guild and was also an avid walker. 

Besides her husband she leaves twin children, Matthew and Elizabeth Jalette of Cumberland ; a sister Barbara Fournier of Lincoln and a granddaughter, Isabel Jalette of Cumberland and several nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Phyllis Faenza. 

A celebration of her life will be held Wednesday 9 a.m. from the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Rd. Rte. 122, Cumberland. Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Joan of Arc Church, Mendon Rd., Cumberland. Burial will follow in St. Jean The Baptist Cemetery, Bellingham. 

Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Calling hours Tuesday fro 4 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society, R. I. Chapter, Rhode Island Chapter, 205 Hallene Road, #209 Warwick, RI 02886.
