Daniel J. Andrews, Jr., 50: Worked at Gator's Pub in Slatersville

Daniel J. Andrews, Jr., 50, of Forestdale, died Sunday, Jan. 5, 2014 after a brief illness, according to Holt Funeral Home.

He was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer on Dec. 18, 2013. Born in Woonsocket,Dan was the son of former North Smithfield Town Administrator Daniel J. Andrews and his wife Janice of Jackson, NH and Sarah E. Stubbs and her husband Donald of Woonsocket.

Dan worked for many years at Gator's Pub in Slatersville where his co-workers loved his humor and strong work ethic. In his youth, he played North Smithfield Little and Senior League baseball, where he made many lasting friendships. Dan's greatest joy was his sons and he loved spending time with them. He also enjoyed music, gardening and cooking, and was an avid Patriots fan. Besides his parents, he leaves his beloved sons, Taylor Andrews and Aaron Andrews of Woonsocket, two sisters Lisa Doherty and her husband Charles of Forestdale and Linda Lovett, who was his caregiver on his final days and her husband David, of Johnston, his brother, David J. Andrews and his wife Anne of Saunderstown, his aunt Carol Hadfield of North Smithfield, seven nieces and nephews and two grand-nieces. He leaves many friends, but especially Lisa Desplaines of Woonsocket, Taylor and Aaron's mom.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 11, 2014, beginning with visitation at 9 a.m. in Slatersville Congregational Church, Green St., Slatersville, followed by a service at 11 a.m. Burial will be private. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Holt Funeral Home, 510 So. Main St., Woonsocket.
