Leadership Changes in the BMR Schools

BMR Welcomes Dr. Perry Davis as Interim Superintendent.  Names Dr. Kirsten Esposito-Balboni as Assistant Superintendent

In Fiscal 14, the District has re-established the position of Assistant Superintendent of Schools, and the recruitment process for this position began shortly after the Annual Town Meetings.  Since that time, Ms. Kimberly Shaver-Hood has resigned to assume the Superintendency of the Wareham (MA) Public Schools. Since that announcement, the BMRDSC has been analyzing and reviewing the leadership requirements for the District.

The committee has developed a process to replace Ms. Shaver-Hood with an Interim Superintendent who will serve the District during the school year 2013-14.   The district reviewed several candidates for the position and we are very pleased to announce that       Dr. Perry Davis will join the Blackstone/Millville Regional School District as the interim Superintendent of Schools. Dr. Davis, has served as Superintendent in the Dover/Sherborn Regional School District, as well as King Philip Regional. He will assume the role on August 1st.  Dr. Davis is currently providing consulting services through Teachers 21, with a focus on coaching and mentoring new Superintendents in the Commonwealth.

The committee has continued to review and interview candidates for the Assistant Superintendent position.   We are pleased to announce that joining Dr. Davis is Dr. Kirsten Esposito-Balboni as the Assistant Superintendent for the District.  Dr. Esposito-Balboni comes to BMRSD from the Brookline (MA) public schools where she has served as the Assistant Superintendent for Student Services.

Throughout this process, it has been the goal of the BMRDSC to continue the mission of providing excellent educational programs and resources to the children of the BMRSD. The development of new initiatives including Alignment of our curriculum to the Massachusetts Common Core standards, literacy programs and the continuing evaluation of personnel demonstrates that the BMR District is poised to move forward in our goal of raising the level of expectations of all stakeholders. We are very excited to welcome Dr. Davis and Dr. Esposito-Balboni to the BMR leadership team, and look forward to their enthusiasm and vision to lead this district forward.

During this school year, the BMRDSC will continue to develop and refine our vision for the BMR Schools. Along with this work, we will be developing and recruiting our new Superintendent of Schools.   We look forward to including members of our community, and all stakeholders on this journey.
