Patriot Place to Host Harvard Pilgrim Finish at the 50 Road Races, Fireworks Spectacular on July 3

Full lineup of free family activities scheduled for June 29-30 and July 3 at Patriot Place; Free fireworks spectacular scheduled for 9 p.m. July 3.

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – In what has become a summer tradition in New England, Patriot Place has scheduled a full lineup of free family activities surrounding the fifth annual Harvard Pilgrim Finish at the 50, a 5K and 10K road race and fireworks spectacular at Patriot Place on Thursday, July 3.  

The festivities kick off with Finish at the 50’s Health & Wellness Expo on Sunday, June 29, when Patriot Place will host a sandcastle competition, face painting, live DJ and games, a photo booth, caricature artist and live music, among other free activities.

The free family activities continue on Monday, June 30, and Thursday, July 3. On race day, guests and participants alike will find more family activities and free, live music building up to the Kid’s Fun Run, which allows children ages 2-12 to run a lap inside Gillette Stadium and end on the 50-yard line of the stadium field, and the 5K and 10K road races. The 5K is run completely on the Patriot Place campus while the 10K includes both Patriot Place and Foxborough roads.

Both the 5K and 10K races end in thrilling fashion as participants emerge from under the Patriots’ inflatable helmet onto the stadium field to the cheers of thousands of fans as they charge the finish at the 50-yard line.

In addition to this year’s new and improved 10K course, Finish at the 50 organizers are inviting Foxborough residents who reside along the course route to participate in the community cheering contest, “Show Us Your Patriotism.” Residents are encouraged to deck out their homes in the best red, white and blue and help cheer runners on. The residence with the best show of patriotism will win a grill from Bass Pro Shops and a $100 in Trader Joe’s groceries.

A portion of the proceeds from each race entry will be donated to Finish at the 50’s first ever race beneficiary, the Kraft Center for Community Health, to assist in improving access to high-quality health care in our communities. Registered runners can also enjoy free menu items from participating Patriot Place restaurants on Sunday, June 29 and Monday, June 30.

Following the races, which begin at 5:30 p.m. with the 5K and 6:30 p.m. with the 10K, Patriot Place will host a fireworks show at 9 p.m. The display will last for more than 20 minutes, the same length as Boston’s annual July 4 fireworks, and will be accompanied by a musical score available by tuning into Dean College Radio, Power 88 FM, at 88.3 FM, or streaming online at www.power883.org. Families can watch the fireworks show from inside Patriot Place’s North Marketplace or from the parking lots around Patriot Place.

Friday, June 27: Sean’s Sand Sculpture – Be sure to stop by and visit our resident sculptor, Sean FitzPatrick outside the Renaissance Hotel & Spa, as he turns five tons of sand into a detailed work of art worthy of your pre and post-race Harvard Pilgrim Finish at the 50 photos.

Saturday, June 28: Artist Studio & Gallery Paint Out – Watch as Patriot Place’s resident artists paint the world around them during their grand re-opening celebration from 2-6 p.m. Check out available art inside the studio for one-of-a-kind, locally crafted pieces sure to please. The Artist Studio & Gallery will hold an open house reception featuring live music and works from artists in residence from 6-9 p.m.

Sean’s Sand Sculpture – Visit this five-ton detailed work of sand art outside of the Renaissance Hotel & Spa.

Dan Walker, 6-8 p.m. – Visit Patriot Place’s main stage located across from Victoria’s Secret and listen to Dan Walker, an acoustic blues rock band set on Saturday.

Kid’s Sandbox Play Space, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. – Pick your favorite truck, shovel or pail and play in Patriot Place’s sandbox located outside of the Renaissance Hotel & Spa.

Live DJ & Games, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. – Join in on the fun from the main stage, located across from Victoria’s Secret, as DJ Ken plays the best music while engaging with the crowd through interactive games.

Bootcamp, noon to 1 p.m. – The Hockomck Area YMCA will be holding two 30-minute bootcamp classes for anyone interested. The class will be held in the closed roadway between Life is good and Victoria’s Secret.

Face painting, noon to 4 p.m. – Show your patriotic pride with a great selection of face painting designs at Patriot Place’s face painting station located next to Capriotti’s.

Photo booth, noon to 4 p.m. – Take fun photos in Patriot Place’s photo booth located across from Capriotti’s.

Henna Artist, noon to 4 p.m. – Let Patriot Place’s henna artist make great henna designs on you located outside of EMS.

Caricature Artist, noon to 5 p.m. – Watch as Patriot Place’s talented artist draws a patriotic picture with you in it located outside of Fanautical.

Big Nazo, noon to 2 p.m. – Watch and be amazed as these great creatures roam Patriot Place.

Fanautical Beach Party, noon to 3 p.m. – Stop by Fanautical and enjoy a beach party while you shop.

Sandcastle competition, 1-1:30 p.m. – Get ready to build outside the Renaissance Hotel & Spa! You will have 30 minutes to build the best sandcastle you can with the sand and tools provided. First place will receive a $300 Patriot Place gift card, second place a $200 Patriot Place gift card and third place a $100 Patriot Place gift card. Space in our competition is limited and is a first come, first serve sign up.

Swerve, 2:30-4:30 p.m. – Swerve will be taking the main stage (located across from Victoria’s Secret) and playing some of the best country music around.

Thirty 6 Red, 5-7 p.m. – This local band, which can often be seen at Toby Keith’s I Love This Bar & Grill, will be live on the main stage (located across from Victoria’s Secret) playing great music for guests to enjoy.

Alakazam “The Human Knot,” noon – Watch and be amazed as this international street, circus entertainer amazes you! Al’s freaky body contortions and comedy will keep you entertained. Located outside of Godiva.

Zumba, 2-3 p.m. – Take part in a high energy Zumba class led by Patriot Place instructor Lisa. Located in the closed roadway between Life is good and Victoria’s Secret.

Matt Chase, 2:30-4:30 p.m. – Enjoy the amazing acoustic sounds from Matt Chase and gear up for the race. Located on the main stage across from Victoria’s Secret.

Live DJ & Games, 4:30-7:30 p.m. – Join in on the fun from the main stage, located across from Victoria’s Secret, as DJ Ken plays the best music while engaging with the crowd through interactive games.

Kid’s Fun Run, 3-3:45 p.m. – Register at www.FinishAtThe50.comfor your children, ages 2-12, to run a lap around Gillette Stadium and finish at the 50-yard line of the stadium’s field.

AMP Radio Live DJ, 3:45-5:30 p.m. – Get AMPed for the Harvard Pilgrim Finish at the 50 race with AMP. Playing the latest music off of the second level deck overlooking NRG Plaza.

5K, 5:30 p.m. – Register at www.FinishAtThe50.com to participate in the 5K course, which is run completely on the Patriot Place campus and ends in thrilling fashion as you emerge from under the Patriots’ inflatable helmet onto the stadium field to the cheers of thousands of fans as you charge the finish at the 50-yard line.

Scarlett Drive, 5:45-7 p.m. – Scarlett Drive will fill the plaza with high energy music that everyone in the crowd will love. Playing off of the second level deck overlooking the NRG Plaza.

10K, 6:30 p.m. - Register at www.FinishAtThe50.com to participate in the 10K course, which is run on both Patriot Place and Foxborough roads and ends in thrilling fashion as you emerge from under the Patriots’ inflatable helmet onto the stadium field to the cheers of thousands of fans as you charge the finish at the 50-yard line.

Will Worthy Band, 7:30-9 p.m. – Will Worthy Band will be playing off of the second level deck overlooking NRG Plaza as the runners are finishing up at Patriot Place!

Fireworks Spectacular, 9 p.m. - The display will last for more than 20 minutes, the same length as Boston’s annual July 4 fireworks, and will be accompanied by a musical score available by tuning into Dean College Radio, Power 88 FM, at 88.3 FM, or streaming online at www.power883.org. Families can watch the fireworks show from inside Patriot Place’s North Marketplace or from the parking lots around Patriot Place.
