Nicole Frechette headlines the triple bill along with Marla Morris and Jacy Dawn. They have been touring the country and have several hits between them. Entertainment Coordinator Jerry Schimmel said booking these national Country recording acts was a step outside the box.

“We wanted to do something different and provide the audience with exposure to a very popular genre of music,” said Schimmel. “We found that Country music is one of the most popular types of music in this region. Comcast Center (in Mansfield) staged several Country shows that sold out this season. Gillette Stadium hosts the Country Music Festival later this month that also sells out. This pairing of Country music and CumberlandFest made perfect sense to us.”

An up-and-coming country music artist from Southern Connecticut, Frechette has long been pursuing a life bound by song with a beat in her heart and music in her head. However, Nicole was not always surrounded by the comforting sounds of the South: “Country music found me through the steady voice of Patsy Cline when my Grandmother would show me ‘real music.’ After several heartaches and falling to pieces on numerous occasions, I found a place in country music for my thoughts to rest.” From her five-foot tall frame comes a powerful voice that commands attention, while her performances truly reflect the power of a song.

Morris, 20, of Bethany, Connecticut, passion for country music is revealed through her stylistic songwriting on her latest release, Ready for the Rain. The CD was featured under “New and Noteworthy” on the country page of iTunes, “What We’re Listening To” and “Rising Stars of Country” sections. The album landed on the Top 100 Country Albums chart on iTunes in its first day of release and has repeatedly returned to the chart.

Dawn, a Chelmsford, MA native, has shared the stage and opened for artists like Wynonna, Vince Gill & Amy Grant, LeAnn Rimes, Darius Rucker and Martina McBride. She performed for President Bill Clinton when she was only 16 years old. Many of her songs have been recorded by both national and international artists. Working behind the scenes of the music business in Nashville, she is the production coordinator and project manager for the Pam Tillis & Lorrie Morgan duo Grits & Glamour.

Fireworks will take place after the Saturday night show sponsored by The Valley Breeze. All changes to the CumberlandFest event schedule will be posted on its website, www.cumberlandfest.org, its Facebook page at CumberlandFest 2013 or on other social media outlets. Parking is free; admission into the grounds is $5 for adults, $1 for children ages 3-12 and free for less than 3 years old.
