UPDATE: 6:11 p.m.
: The Canvasser's office reports 3,865 voters had cast their votes by 3 p.m. this afternoon, 15.09 percent of the city's eligible voters.

The Board of Canvassers report six percent of registered voters had cast their ballots for the 2013 election this morning.

By the office's noon report, 1,576 voters city-wide had cast their ballots by 10 a.m., 6.15 percent of the city's 25,609 registered voters.

At Our Lady Queen of Martyrs on Park Avenue, poll workers and candidate volunteers backed up the numbers with anecdotal evidence.

"Much better than the primary," said Maggie Losardo, supervisor at the OLQM polling place. She said that by noon, they had about 256 people, and a steady stream of people were entering in small groups to add their votes to the tally.

Outside the building, City Council President John Ward was standing with supporter Jack Rivers. Ward said the turnout seemed strong, and he wouldn't be surprised to see 8,000 people turn out by the day's end.
