Fisher Confident in Protest Vote, Happy to Spark Debate

Mayoral Challenger Dave Fisher said he's happy to have brought new ideas into the debate during his race to unseat incumbent Mayor Leo Fontaine in this year's election.

Fisher, interviewed just after 2 p.m. at the Providence Street Fire Station, said he was optimistic about finishing in the top two in the Oct. 8 primary to proceed to the November general election. "I think the protest vote here in the city is a very strong thing," Fisher said.

Fisher said he's heard from a lot of people who are unhappy with the way the city has been run for the last several years, making Fontaine vulnerable to his bid for the office. "I'm pretty confident in the results," Fisher said.
