Tuesday Five: Public Schools Out, Trash Delay, Dinner, Diner

Happy Tuesday - check out today's things to know:

 

School's out - School is canceled today for Woonsocket Public Schools. Keep apprised of all the latest news at our Storm Center page, bundle up, and stay safe.

Trash Pickup Delay -  Due to the conditions of some of the roadways and sidewalks in the city, collection is delayed by one day for the week.  For the residents within the Friday District that did not have their recycling collected from last week, they can place the recycle cart out for collection Tuesday.

The Solid Waste Division asks that everyone be patient as they try to collect all refuse within a timely matter.

NRIC Dinner - Network with your colleagues and take advantage of a rare opportunity to view the Governor’s Cup won in 2012 by International League baseball champs the Pawtucket Redsox tonight at Twin River Event Center, Lincoln, RI, 5:30 p.m. 

The dinner portion of the evening will feature keynote speaker, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for the US Chamber of Commerce, David C. Chavern.

The evening will also honor recipients of the distinguished Barbara Burlingame and Ben Mondor awards, Senator Roger Picard and Robert Andrade, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Pawtucket Credit Union.

Diner for lease - Been itching to start up a new restaurant? Neighborworks Blackstone River Valley is offering experienced restauranteurs a lease of the diner car once home to “Champs Diner,” on Park Avenue, now waiting a new tenant and customers at 719 Front St. The car was one of more than 600 diners produced by the Worcester Lunch Car and Carriage Manufacturing Company.

Monday, March 11, 6 p.m., at the Elks Hall, 368 Social St. They'll put you back $20, and you'llneed to find a rotary member to buy them
