Diner for lease - Been itching to start up a new restaurant? Neighborworks Blackstone River Valley is offering experienced restauranteurs a lease of the diner car once home to “Champs Diner,” on Park Avenue, now waiting a new tenant and customers at 719 Front St. The car was one of more than 600 diners produced by the Worcester Lunch Car and Carriage Manufacturing Company.

Applications to win the lease, including a resume and business plan, are due Feb. 13.

Winter Trash Collection: The city's Solid Waste Division warns wintertime weather could delay trash and recycling collection. Every effort will be taken to ensure prompt service however if the roadways should become a safety issue for the rubbish trucks, then collection will be delayed to the following work day. To ensure curbside pick-up, the division asks residents to shovel an area that will allow the trash and recycling carts to sit level. Cart covers should be closed, preventing snow from weighing them down.

The collection vehicle's lifting arm requires clearance: three feet on all sides and 12 feet overhead. The carts should be no more than three feet away from the curb or road edge, and the arrows on the lid must be pointing toward the street, with the hinges facing away from your street. Your recycling cart should be placed at least 3 feet from the burgundy cart.

Place carts curbside on your collection day by 7 a.m. Questions can be directed to the Solid Waste Division at 401-767-8880.

Christmas Tree Collection - The City of Woonsocket's Public Services Division will pick up discarded Christmas Trees through Friday, Jan. 18.

Trees will be picked up on your regular trash pick-up day. Residents are asked that the trees are not wrapped in any type of plastic nor have any ornaments left on them.

Calling all plows - The City of Woonsocket is interested in hiring private trucks with plows, as well as four wheel drive vehicles with plows and other snow removal equipment on an hourly rental basis.
