Merry Christmas Five: Council, Plows, Trash, Blog

Merry Christmas, Woonsocket - check out these things to know:

Merry Christmas - It's Christmas, and I would like to wish everyone in Woonsocket a happy holiday. We've covered a lot of good deeds leading up to Christmas, proof that though the city has its challenges, its a community its members can be proud to be part of. Here's hoping Christmas brings something special for you from someone with a kind heart - Rob

Snow - There's a chance of snow today - perhaps just in time for a white Christmas. The weather geeks predict a 60 percent chance of the white stuff falling out of the sky this morning. There's less than an inch predicted, so if you're traveling, it shouldn't hamper your plans, but it might make the scenery a little more seasonal.

Council 2013 - The Woonsocket City Council's next meeting is scheduled for Jan. 7, 2013.

Calling all plows - The City of Woonsocket is interested in hiring private trucks with plows, as well as four wheel drive vehicles with plows and other snow removal equipment on an hourly rental basis. Forms of Proposals and Agreements are available at the Office of Purchasing in the City Hall Finance Dept. All interested parties, call Jessica at 401-767-9269, or email at jdesrochers@woonsocketri.org.

Holiday trash schedule - In the observance of Christmas the Woonsocket Material Recycle Facility will be closed today.

Tuesday Dec. 25 to Friday Dec. 28 will be delayed by one day.

Residents are reminded that holiday wrapping paper is recyclable. Excess recyclables, including cardboard and paper along with styrofoam can be brought to the WoonsocketMaterial Recycle Facility, free of charge, located at 943 River St. (normal hours areMonday to Friday 7am – 3:30pm, Saturday 8am – 12pm).

Any excess waste or overloaded trash carts will not be collected.
Questions can be directed to the Woonsocket Solid Waste Division at 767-8880.
